State of CSS
What it does
An annual survey of CSS developers measuring awareness, usage, and satisfaction with CSS features, methodologies, and tooling. Covers both cutting-edge language features (container queries, cascade layers, etc.) and the broader workflow around CSS — preprocessors, frameworks, and IDE tooling.
Who is it for
Front-end developers tracking which CSS features have reached practical adoption, browser vendors and standards bodies gauging developer interest in proposed or newly shipped features, and tooling authors understanding where developers spend their time.
Where to find it
stateofcss.com — results are published annually, with each year’s data accessible at a versioned URL (e.g. 2024.stateofcss.com).
Who is maintaining it
Devographics, led by Sacha Greif and Eric Burel, with support from sponsors and the open-source community. Survey tooling is open source at github.com/Devographics.
