What it does

Tracks and organises developer signals — interest, needs, wants, and frustrations — around web platform features. Signals is defined broadly and typically falls into one of these categories:

  • Survey results, for example from State of CSS or MDN short surveys
  • Developer interviews, such as those done for the MDN Browser Compatibility Report
  • Browser bugs, including upvote/star counts
  • Reactions on GitHub issues relating to web platform features
  • Blogs, podcasts, or social media

To the extent possible, signals are organised around web-features. The project is only about organising signals, not about conducting or coordinating research. Work is done within the W3C WebDX Community Group.

Who is it for

Browser vendors and standards bodies using developer sentiment to prioritise which features to implement or fix. Also useful for web compat researchers understanding where real-world friction lives.
